PROVIDENCE CHECKS OUT DC FORWARD

June 4, 2008

We are still trying to get a feel for the recruiting areas and players of interest for new Providence coach Keno Davis and his staff. It does appear that the Friars are among the Big East Crews Warming Up to Thomas Robinson.

Thomas Robinson, a 6’8”, 205 pound forward from Washington, DC has seen his interest move into the recruiting fast lane, going 150 miles per hour. He has received offers from Marquette, Georgia, George Washington, Virginia, Oklahoma and Virginia Tech. Pittsburgh, North Carolina State, Boston College, Minnesota, UMASS, Drexel, Robert Morris and George Mason have all expressed strong interest, with others like Providence taking a look.

Presently, Robinson is a hard playing forward most comfortable in the interior, where he rebounds, defends, attacks the cup, and displays a much improved jump hook with either hand. Going forward, Thomas will continue improving his perimeter skills, which will as a coach recently suggested allow him to excel at either the high or mid major levels.

His Squash All Beefs AAU coach, Dwight Redd recently noted to Ron Bailey during the spring open period, college coaches have indicated “when they see Thomas, they see a kid who works hard, is aggressive, and has a mean streak”.
